چکیده

The implications of initiating a new project or making changes on an already existing system can potentially have substantial influence on the system itself, other conflicting systems, or more non-technology oriented aspects. This paper addresses how systemigrams and causal loop diagrams (CLD) can be used for communicating holistic and common system models to different segments of an organization. These models have been found useful in order to make sure all the involved parts have the same understanding of the project as well as following how the initiation of a new project will propagate in respect of four aspects: technology, organization, business, and finance. It is further described how the mapped propagation can be used as a basis for risk assessment where the risk is defined as the product of impact and probability. The method described in this paper provides a new and more lucid approach of risk assessment based on what the project want to achieve.

Causal Inference in Biology Networks with Integrated Belief Propagation

Inferring causal relationships among molecular and higher order phenotypes is a critical step in elucidating the complexity of living systems. Here we propose a novel method for inferring causality that is no longer constrained by the conditional dependency arguments that limit the ability of statistical causal inference methods to resolve causal relationships within sets of graphical models th...

Model-based causal closed-loop approach to the estimate of baroreflex sensitivity during propofol anesthesia in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft.

Cardiac baroreflex is a fundamental component of the cardiovascular control. The continuous assessment of baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) from spontaneous heart period (HP) and systolic arterial pressure (SAP) variations during general anesthesia provides relevant information about cardiovascular regulation in physiological conditions. Unfortunately, several difficulties including unknown HP-SAP c...

A Community Based Systems Diagram of Obesity Causes

INTRODUCTION Application of system thinking to the development, implementation and evaluation of childhood obesity prevention efforts represents the cutting edge of community-based prevention. We report on an approach to developing a system oriented community perspective on the causes of obesity. METHODS Group model building sessions were conducted in a rural Australian community to address i...
